OSSFT & ETFO begin limited job action
Posted on 11/22/2019
Teachers and education professionals represented by the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) will begin a province-wide partial withdrawal of services starting Tuesday, November 26. In Limestone, OSSTF represents secondary school teachers, occasional teachers, professional student services personnel, and community education instructors.

The union representing elementary teachers, (Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario-ETFO), will also begin a partial withdrawal of services effective Tuesday, November 26. Both ETFO and OSSTF are in a legal strike position.

This means elementary and secondary teachers across the province, including here in Limestone, will be withdrawing administrative duties such as not participating in professional development activities that are provincially directed, not participating in school improvement planning, or in administrative activities outside of the instructional day.

OSSTF members may also engage in information pickets before or after school or during lunch periods.

It is important for families to know that there will be no impact on student learning and the delivery of the curriculum. School activities such as field trips, sports and  extracurricular activities are expected to be unchanged at LDSB schools during this phase of the work-to-rule campaign. All schools will remain open, classes will continue as scheduled, and there is no change to the professional activity day scheduled for Friday, November 29.

Please be assured that our focus remains on student achievement and well-being and therefore we will work together with all our employees to ensure that learning and safety are not compromised.

LDSB believes in and is committed to the collective bargaining process, and values all employees for their commitment to student achievement and well-being. We remain hopeful that an agreement can be reached soon at the central bargaining table.

Bargaining between the province, the unions, and the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association (OPSBA), which represents public school boards at the provincial table continues.

The HPS school calendar of events as well as forms, etc. will be on our website:

Students and parents are reminded to use the designated crosswalk at the front of the school and not to cross between the buses.

that parents need to have a current CPIC to accompany their children on field trips or to volunteer at the school. CPICs are good for three years. If you need to renew your paperwork, contact the main office at 613-372-2026.
