October 22nd Update

Dear Families,

Thank you for another great week of learning at HPS! Please see below for some updates regarding Halloween, school photos, and upcoming dates of importance😊

October 29th: Black and Orange Day

  • On Friday, October 29thstudents and staff are encouraged to wear black and orange to celebrate Halloween.

  • Unfortunately, due to ongoing Covid-19 protocols, students will not be permitted to bring treats to school to share with their classmates.

November 1st: PA Day – No School

  • On Monday, November 1st, there is a staff PA Day, so there will not be any school for students that day. We look forward to welcoming them back on Tuesday, November 2nd

November 3rd: Photo Retake Day

  • On Wednesday, November 3rd, HPS will be offering the chance to have school photos retaken. On the proof sheet that went home with the first set of photos, there is an area to check if you would like retakes. Please fill out this form and return it before or on the morning of November 3rd.

  • Students who were absent on Picture Day will also have the opportunity to have their photos taken on November 3rd.

Reminders:

  • Please send your child with a water bottle, indoor shoes, change of clothes, and weather appropriate clothing each day. Label everything as our lost and found is quickly filling up.

  • Recess support: if your child needs help at recess to navigate friendships or report an injury, please remind them to look for one of our many yard supervisors. We are easy to spot in our neon yellow vests!

  • Please be mindful of where you drop off and pick up students each day. We want to keep everyone as safe as possible, and it can be difficult for bus drivers to see children who cross close to the front or rear of the bus.

  • Please check out our Twitter page for more HPS info: https://twitter.com/HarrowPS_LDSB

Happy Thanksgiving, Hawks!

From all of us here at Harrowsmith Public School, we wanted to wish you a great long weekend with your family. It’s a wonderful time to reflect on the past, appreciate the present, and look forward with gratitude. School will resume on Tuesday, October 12th, 2021.

Contact Information

Today, your child will bring home a form with the current contact information we have in our new database system.  Please review, make any necessary corrections, sign the form, and return the completed form to your child's teacher at your earliest convenience.

Water Bottles, Masks, and Clothing

Please send your child with a labelled water bottle and extra masks each day. Also, given that we spend a lot of time learning and playing outdoors, please send your child with an additional set of clothes to keep in their backpack which will help ensure their comfort. Even older students will benefit from having an extra set.

Our school is proud to take part in this year's Terry Fox School Event. We will be honouring Terry Fox all week. Please help us to continue the legacy of one of Canada's greatest heroes, by donating and supporting our school's fundraising efforts.

Dear Families and Guardians,

Thank you for your patience and kindness during our reorganization. We are excited to welcome students on Monday morning and to continue to move forward with teaching, learning, and building relationships. Students who needed to change classrooms did so this afternoon, and the process went quickly and smoothly. It is our hope that families and HPS team members can spend the weekend relaxing and enjoying this beautiful fall weather.

We also wanted to thank you for continuing to adhere to our Covid-19 safety measures. Students have been doing a great job masking, sanitizing, sitting in assigned seats on the bus, and staying in their cohorts. We appreciate the ongoing adherence to these policies, as safety is our number one priority. We also appreciate how families have been screening for symptoms prior to the school day and keeping students with symptoms home to rest and recover.  A reminder that all household members who are not fully immunized are required to isolate until the symptomatic student receives a negative COVID-19 test result or an alternative diagnosis from a health care provider.

Here are a few reminders going into next week:

  • Please send your child with a refillable water bottle; our fountains have been closed as an additional Covid-19 safety precaution, but our water filling stations are open
  • There is a PA Day on Friday, October 1st; no school that day
  • Picture Day is Tuesday, October 5th

Thanks again for all your support. Have a wonderful weekend, Hawks!
